This is JB Bezuidenhout, born 25 September 2018. We went through private midwife Ester Naude. My parents were visiting us in Bronkhorstspruit on the 24th for Sukkot feast. When they left I started having contractions but didn't really think anything of it and had a bit of a nap because I was exhausted. The contractions kept coming but wasn't really intense or anything. My husband and I went to bed at around 8 pm. I woke up a few times and felt the contractions but went on sleeping. At around 1 am it was starting to get worse so I decided to take a bath. While the water was running I quickly went to the bathroom and that when I noticed my mucus plug. I still took a nice long bath to see if the contractions will get better or worse. Afterwards, I went to bed again. At 3 am I woke my husband and told him that I now knew for sure I'm in labor. We send Ester a WhatsApp to say that things have started and timed the contractions etc. She told us if we wanted we can come in because she is already there with another client. We decided to wait. We left home at around 6 am to try and miss the traffic (which did not happen) and arrived at Genesis at 8 am. I was only 3cm dilated. We went for a walk around the park and that's when things got very intense. We slowly made our way back to the clinic. There my husband was an absolute champ as he massaged my back trying to keep me breathing and just doing anything he could to help me through every contraction. All the while Ester ran from one room to mine. Trying to keep two ladies, that was in labour, happy. She helped me so much with the pain I can't even explain what she did but she has some magical hands and strength I'm telling you. At 12 pm Ester came to check up on me and I was only 5cm dilated. We decided to break my water. From there, things escalated very quickly and my little boy was in my arms at 1:45 pm. It was really the best experience ever with this being my first child and everything. Never did I once doubt my decision to have an unmedicated birth at Genesis with a midwife. As for Ester, what an angel. I absolutely loved working with her and she will definitely see us with the rest of my kids.
